Dear Good Shepherd Parishioners,
Welcome back for Part 2 of our series on Music at Mass! In this video, Fr. Dalton gives an overview of four main principles guiding the music changes in our parish. These principles are drawn directly from the Church's instructions for music at Mass. The principles are:
Singing the Mass vs. singing at Mass
Suitable hymns in content and style
Instruments supporting voices
Latin in the Mass
As Fr. Dalton explains, we are working on gradually transitioning our music here at GSCP to meet the Church's highest ideals for music in the liturgy. We pray that this process of learning and growing together will glorify God and sanctify us as His people.
Don't forget to submit your questions either here in the comments on FlockNote or by sending an email to Fr. Dalton at drogers@gscparish.org. In next week's episode, Fr. Dalton will sit down with Fr. James Tasy and Dr. Myrna Keough to answer your questions and to speak in general about common issues regarding the implementation of sacred music at Mass.
Stay tuned!
Sincerely in Christ, the Good Shepherd,
Fr. Alex Chavez, Fr. Dalton Rogers, & Fr. Rene Vargas
P.S. Below are the slides from Fr. Dalton's presentation, in case you'd like to review them in greater detail.
