In light of the health challenges facing Father Eric Swearingen, Pastor of Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, our Bishop Armando Ochoa is deeply concerned that in his absence certain pastoral and temporal matters of the parish must be consistently maintained until his return. In response, Bishop Ochoa has appointed our former pastor Monsignor Ray Dreiling to EPISCOPAL LIAISON -PRO TEM for Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, Visalia, California.
While acting as the Bishop's Liaison in general parish matters, Msgr. Dreiling has been instructed to be especially attentive in two specific areas:
"1. Oversee the on-going work associated with construction of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Visalia. In consultation with the established Building Committee and others involved in this matter, you have authority to make decisions on behalf of the parish, always keeping in mind the wishes and desires of the parish community and its Pastor, Father Eric Swearingen.
"2. To serve in guiding the good order of Catholic School of Visalia - George McCann Parochial School, especially in matters of administration, working closely with the Diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools Principal, Mrs. Sheila Rast, the School Advisory Board, and the Parish Finance Council," Bishop Ochoa wrote in a letter to Msgr. Dreiling.
This appointment as EPISCOPAL LIAISON - PRO TEM went into effect on July 18, 2018 and will remain in effect until revoked by Bishop Ochoa or his predecessor.
Please join us in praying for both Msgr. Dreiling and our parish as we work together to keep doing God's good works during our Pastor's absence. We are blessed to have Msgr. watching over our parish during this time.
